UP News: Major Police Success Ahead of Republic Day, 250 Kg Explosives Seized from Rented House
Republic Day Security Alert: Explosives Recovered from House Rented Just 20 Days Ago; One Arrested in Hapur

Hapur, Uttar Pradesh:
In a major security breakthrough ahead of Republic Day, Uttar Pradesh Police have seized 250 kilograms of explosive material from a rented house in Hapur district. The recovery was made under ‘Operation Satyaapan’, a special drive launched to verify tenants and strengthen internal security. Police have arrested a youth in connection with the case.
According to officials, the accused had rented the house barely 20 days ago and was allegedly involved in the illegal manufacturing of fireworks materials, posing a serious security risk during the sensitive pre–Republic Day period.
Explosives and Firework Material Recovered
Police recovered ready-made and semi-finished ‘candles’ (fireworks commonly used during weddings), along with dry cotton powder weighing approximately 2.5 quintals, worth several lakhs of rupees. These materials are highly flammable and classified as explosive substances.
The arrested accused has been identified as Nadeem, a resident of Farrukhnagar in Ghaziabad district.
How the Operation Unfolded
Inspector Munish Pratap Singh stated that on Monday night, police teams were conducting tenant verification at Fatehpur village near Kuchesar Chowpla. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the rented house owned by Rahul Khatik, where illegal fireworks manufacturing was allegedly underway.
During the search, police found a large stock of explosive material, triggering panic in the area. Officials confirmed that no license or permission had been obtained to manufacture or store such materials.
Investigation Ongoing
Police are currently interrogating the accused to determine:
-
The source of the explosive powder
-
Whether the material was intended for illegal sale or misuse
-
If others are involved in the racket
Authorities are also investigating on what basis the landlord rented the house to the accused without proper verification.
The case is under detailed investigation, and further arrests cannot be ruled out.
