Alibaug – For beneficiaries with disabilities receiving benefits under the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance, possession of a Unique Disability ID (UDID) card is mandatory. Consequently, it is essential for persons with disabilities to link this card with their Aadhaar number (e-KYC) and update the details on the designated portal. The deadline for this process is March 31. If the UDID is not linked by March 31, beneficiaries will be deprived of their entitled benefits.

Many individuals with disabilities have not yet linked their UDID cards with their Aadhaar numbers. This is creating hurdles in the government’s drive for transparency. E-KYC has been made mandatory specifically to curb ineligible beneficiaries and to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach only those persons with disabilities who are truly eligible. For beneficiaries whose UDID cards are not linked with Aadhaar, or whose e-KYC remains pending, the disbursement of financial grants will be discontinued starting April 1.

What is the UDID Card?

This special identity card is issued by the Central Government. It enables persons with disabilities to access the benefits of various government schemes across the country using a single card. The card stores details regarding the type of disability, the percentage of disability, and personal identification information. Linking the card with Aadhaar is essential to ensure that the benefits of various Central and State government schemes are deposited directly into the beneficiary’s bank account. The administration has set March 31, 2026, as the final deadline for completing the e-KYC process. After this date, the portal may technically become inaccessible. Eligible persons with disabilities are entitled to receive a financial grant of ₹2,500 each; however, to receive this grant, they must link their UDID card with their Aadhaar number.

How to Complete the e-KYC Process? Beneficiaries can complete their e-KYC by visiting their nearest ‘Aaple Sarkar’ Service Center or Maha-e-Seva Center. The government has also made the ‘UDID’ mobile app facility available. Beneficiaries can download the app on their own mobile phones to update their Aadhaar numbers. However, for this purpose, it is mandatory to possess an Aadhaar card, a UDID card, and an Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
