A heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded in Pimpri-Chinchwad on the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti, as fate dealt a cruel blow. Two real sisters lost their lives on the spot after a speeding truck rammed into their two-wheeler. The tragic incident has plunged the Punawale and Kalewadi areas into deep mourning.

The deceased have been identified as Rutujа Pandurang Shinde (24) and Neha Pandurang Shinde (20), residents of Punawale. The accident occurred on Wednesday (January 14) afternoon near the petrol pump in front of Dhangar Baba Temple at Kalewadi.

According to information received, the Shinde family is engaged in the chilli-grinding business, and Rutujа and Neha were their only two daughters. Rutujа had completed her LLB degree, while Neha was pursuing her college education. On Wednesday, the sisters were travelling on a two-wheeler for some work when a speeding Eicher truck hit their vehicle with great force near the petrol pump. Both sisters sustained serious injuries in the collision and were immediately rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Kalewadi police rushed to the spot and detained the truck driver, Jitendra Nirale (resident of Khalghat, Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh), later placing him under arrest. Further investigation is being carried out by the Kalewadi police.

The untimely death of two young, promising daughters on the very day of Makar Sankranti has left the Shinde family devastated. The incident has sparked widespread grief in the area and once again brought the issue of road safety into sharp focus.
