PCMC to Launch ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign; Cleanliness Festival from 17th September to 2nd October

Pimpri Chinchwad | Marching towards the dream of a Clean India envisioned by the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will be implementing the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign from 17th September to 2nd October 2025. The purpose of this campaign is to transform cleanliness into a social movement, ensure active participation of citizens, and bring remarkable improvements in cleanliness in both urban and rural areas.

Under this campaign, the corporation has planned various innovative and people-participation-based programs over a span of 16 days, aiming to involve citizens through direct action. The Health Department of PCMC has appealed for large-scale participation of citizens, traders, NGOs, women’s groups, and students in these initiatives.

Key Activities under the Campaign-

Public Place Cleaning Drive-
Cleaning of main roads, markets, bus stands, gardens, and water bodies; health check-ups for sanitation workers; distribution of safety equipment; and awareness programs.

Swachh Harit Mahotsav (Clean & Green Festival):
Promotion of eco-friendly products, tree plantation drives, workshops, and exhibitions on sustainable lifestyle.

Awareness Against Plastic Pollution-
Dissemination of information about alternatives to single-use plastic.

Door-to-Door Awareness-
Demonstrations and distribution of informative material on wet-dry waste segregation, home composting, and waste management.

Cleanliness Rally-
A grand rally with the participation of students, NGOs, women’s self-help groups, and citizens.

RRR (Reduce–Reuse–Recycle) Awareness-
Encouraging citizens to deposit useful but unused household items at RRR centers.

Waste Art Initiative-
Creating artwork from waste materials to spread the message “Waste is a Resource.”

The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign is not just an initiative but a responsibility where every section of society must actively participate. Cleanliness builds a strong foundation for health, environment, and development. Citizens are urged to join these various programs conducted by PCMC and take the pledge of cleanliness to help make Pimpri Chinchwad a model city for sanitation.
