Massive Recruitment in the Higher Education Department… Information Shared Directly by the Higher and Technical Education Minister

Pune | Although there is currently talk that the government has no money, the government will not allow a shortage of funds for essential work. Stating this, approval has been granted for the recruitment of 5,500 professors and 2,900 staff in the state, informed Minister of Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Patil.
Patil was speaking at the ‘Viksit Maharashtra 2047 Awareness Workshop’ organized in the auditorium of Modern Engineering College by Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshanik Mahasangh, Higher Education Cadre Maharashtra Pradesh, and the Progressive Education Society.
Present on this occasion were Director of Higher Education Dr. Shailendra Devlankar, Former Vice-Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University Dr. Nitin Karmalkar, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University Dr. Parag Kalkar, President of Progressive Education Society Dr. Gajanan Ekbote, Co-Executive Dr. Jyotsna Ekbote, Prof. Pradeep Khedkar, and others.
Chandrakant Patil said that many everyday troubling issues will be resolved. Along with that, there should be no shortcomings in achieving the goal of ‘Viksit Maharashtra 2047’. The issue of manpower required for this will be resolved. The first phase for that will be the year 2029. Until then, all universities in the state must improve their quality. Savitribai Phule Pune University has risen in global rankings.
In the next five years, the expectation has been expressed from the Vice-Chancellor and all heads that the university should find a place in the list of the top 500 universities in the world. This same expectation is there for all universities across the state.
The number of universities in the state is very low in comparison. Hence, the burden on the universities has increased. While only 150 affiliated colleges are expected, if 800 colleges are affiliated, how can quality improve? Raising this question, Dr. Ekbote emphasized the need to start one university and a research center in every district.
For improving quality, it is essential to provide trained teachers and to enhance infrastructure. For that, expenditure on education must be increased, he added.
