Maharashtra Weather Alert: Rising Temperatures from Konkan to Vidarbha; Strong Sun in the Afternoon

Mumbai | As mid-February approaches, summer-like conditions are being felt across Maharashtra. Recent weather fluctuations are now stabilizing, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that there is no possibility of rain in the next 24 hours. However, rising temperatures are expected to make the heat more intense during the day.
Currently, the state is experiencing significant temperature swings—cool mornings followed by hot afternoons. The IMD has issued a warning of rising maximum temperatures over the next 24 hours, which may increase the impact of heat in several regions.
Coastal Maharashtra (Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Raigad, Sindhudurg)
The entire Konkan coast will experience hot and humid conditions today. Maximum temperatures in Mumbai are expected to range between 35°C and 36°C, while minimum temperatures will hover around 23°C to 24°C. High humidity will make the afternoon heat feel more oppressive. Raigad and Sindhudurg districts are expected to experience similar conditions.
Western Maharashtra
Mild coolness will be felt in the mornings, with minimum temperatures ranging from 18°C to 20°C. However, maximum temperatures could rise to 36°C–37°C by afternoon. The sun will be strong throughout the day, and while temperatures may drop slightly in the evening, the heat impact will persist.
Marathwada and Vidarbha
Dry and hot conditions will continue. In Marathwada, maximum temperatures are expected to reach 37°C–38°C, with minimums around 17°C–19°C. Vidarbha will experience more intense heat, with some areas recording maximum temperatures between 38°C and 39°C. Strong afternoon sunlight and hot winds may increase discomfort.
Overall, most parts of Maharashtra are expected to see an increase of around 1°C in maximum temperatures on February 17, while minimum temperatures will remain largely unchanged. Skies will remain mostly clear with no rain expected. Although rainfall is unlikely, caution is advised due to rising heat. The IMD has also noted that February will continue to see temperature fluctuations, with cool mornings and strong afternoon sun expected in the coming days.
