Builder Accountability Demand Intensifies Over Water Cost Burden on Housing Societies in Pimpri-Chinchwad
Federation Urges Recovery of Water Expenses from Developers; Calls for Strict Action Against Violators of Written Assurances

Pimpri-Chinchwad | Correspondent | In a strong and assertive move, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Housing Society Federation has raised serious concerns over the unjust financial burden of water expenses imposed on housing societies across the city. The federation has demanded immediate directives from the civic administration to recover the entire cost of water—borne by societies since 2019—from the respective builders and developers.
According to the federation, several developers had provided written assurances at the time of project initiation, committing to arrange water supply at their own expense until permanent arrangements were in place. However, these assurances have been widely violated, resulting in a significant financial strain on residents. The federation emphasized that this issue goes beyond administrative negligence and reflects a systemic injustice against citizens.
Highlighting the gravity of the matter, the federation has urged authorities to initiate criminal proceedings against developers who have failed to honor their commitments. Additionally, it has demanded that such violators be denied any future construction permissions or completion certificates, ensuring accountability and preventing recurrence of similar practices.
Federation representatives stated, “Allowing builders to escape responsibility despite written guarantees is a direct violation of citizens’ rights. If the administration fails to take strict action now, such unethical practices will continue unchecked.”
These demands have placed the municipal administration under increasing pressure, as citizens and stakeholders closely watch the next course of action by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
“Savings spent by society residents on water since 2019 rightfully belong to them. Developers have blatantly violated their written commitments, imposing undue financial hardship on citizens. The entire cost must be recovered from the builders, and strict action must be taken. Failing this, we will be compelled to launch a strong public protest to protect citizens’ rights.”
