AK-47 Manufacturer Enters EV Market with Powerful Electric Bike ‘IZH-Enduro’
Kalashnikov Unveils Electric Motorcycle with Manual Gearbox and Utility Sidecar

New Delhi:Globally renowned Russian defence manufacturer Kalashnikov, famous for producing the iconic AK-47 assault rifle, has now entered the electric vehicle segment. The company has introduced a unique electric motorcycle named IZH-Enduro, which has already attracted attention due to its rugged design and unconventional features.
Utility-Focused Sidecar Design
One of the standout features of the IZH-Enduro is its functional sidecar. Unlike traditional sidecars meant for passengers, this one is designed as a flatbed platform for carrying equipment or supplies. The motorcycle also supports an additional rear trailer, enabling it to transport heavy loads, making it suitable for specialized operational use.
Manual Gears in an Electric Bike
While most electric motorcycles operate without gears, the IZH-Enduro is equipped with a 4-speed manual gearbox and clutch, offering greater control on rough terrain and steep inclines. Buyers can choose between 3 kW and 5 kW electric motor options. Additionally, Kalashnikov has also offered a 450 cc petrol engine variant for customers preferring a conventional powertrain.
Speed, Range and Dimensions
The electric motorcycle can reach a top speed of 120 km/h and offers a riding range of approximately 100 km on a full charge. With the sidecar attached, the total weight of the bike is around 220 kg. For improved accessibility and rider comfort, the seat height has been kept at 28.3 inches.
Target Users
According to the company, the IZH-Enduro has been designed primarily for police forces, rescue teams, and adventure enthusiasts. Its electric motor produces minimal noise, making it especially suitable for patrolling, surveillance, and security operations.
Launch Timeline and Pricing
Currently, the IZH-Enduro is undergoing testing. Kalashnikov has not yet announced its official price or public launch date. However, the company has indicated that the motorcycle may eventually be made available to civilian buyers in addition to government and security agencies.
