PCMC Sets Up 8 Innovative Polling Booths to Promote Environmental Awareness During Municipal Elections

With the aim of ensuring that the festival of democracy goes beyond voting and inspires social responsibility, environmental awareness, and civic duty, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has introduced a unique initiative during the PCMC General Elections 2026. Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Election Officer Shravan Hardikar, the civic body has established eight eco-themed innovative polling booths across the city.

Additional Commissioner Tripti Sandbhor, while inspecting these polling stations, stated that the initiative reflects a meaningful blend of democratic values, environmental consciousness, and citizen responsibility. She also directed officials to ensure that all necessary voter facilities are made available at these booths.


Eight Theme-Based Innovative Polling Booths Across the City

Polling for the PCMC elections will be held on January 15, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. One innovative polling booth has been set up in each of the eight regional offices, totaling eight theme-based polling centers.

Each polling booth highlights a specific concept related to environment protection, health, cleanliness, and sustainable development, using creative decorations, informative displays, and public awareness messages to engage voters.


Key Themes of the Innovative Polling Booths

The themes covered under this initiative include:

  • Solar Energy – New Pune Public School & Junior College, Akurdi

  • Green Polling Booth – Acharya Shri Anand Rushiji English Medium School, Chinchwad

  • Wet and Dry Waste Segregation – Savitribai Phule School, Moshi

  • Reduce, Recycle, Reuse (RRR) – Primary School, Jadhavwadi, Chikhali

  • Stay Fit (Healthy Lifestyle) – G.K. Gurukul School, Pimple Saudagar

  • Save Water – G.K. Gurukul School, Pimple Saudagar

  • Clean Air Action Plan (GRAP) & Women Empowerment – Prince Society, Thergaon

  • Panchtatva (Five Elements of Nature) – Municipal School, Kasarwadi

Through these themes, voters are encouraged to reflect on sustainable living and environmental responsibility while exercising their right to vote.


Objective of the Initiative

The primary goal of these innovative polling booths is to ensure that while casting their votes, citizens also become mindful of their responsibility towards society and the environment. The PCMC administration believes that elections offer a powerful platform for public awareness and positive social messaging.


Appeal to Citizens

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has appealed to all citizens to participate in large numbers in the voting process on January 15, 2026, and contribute to strengthening democracy while embracing eco-friendly values.
