Shri Mangalmurti’s Bhadrapad Yatra at Chinchwad from Sunday

Pimpri-Chinchwad | The Bhadrapad palanquin procession of Shri Mangalmurti, received by Shrimant Mahasadu Morya Gosavi Maharaj of Chinchwad with a tradition of about 525 years, is starting from this Sunday (24th). The yatra will conclude on 2nd September, informed the chief trustee of the temple, Mandar Maharaj Dev. He also announced the schedule of the palanquin procession on this occasion.

Shrimant Mahasadu Shrimorya Gosavi Maharaj of Chinchwad, the great Ganapati devotee, used to visit Shrimayureshwar at Morgaon every month. In 1561, he took a living samadhi on the banks of Pavana river at Chinchwad. Shrimorya Gosavi Maharaj, at the age of 117 in the year 1489, received the rice idol of Shrimayureshwar at Shri Kshetra Morgaon, in the Ganeshkund located in the Karha river. The tradition of taking this sacred idol in the Bhadrapad month from Shri Mangalmurti in a palanquin to Morgaon has been going on continuously for more than about 525 years.

A grand procession will be taken out on the occasion of the palanquin departure. Horses will be at the forefront of the procession. Also, the renowned Shrigajalakshmi Dhol Pathak of Pune will participate. On Wednesday at noon, the palanquin will depart towards Shri Kshetra Morgaon. The route of the palanquin will be from Shri Mangalmurti Wada to Samadhi Mandir, Gandhipeth, Power House Chowk (Pimpri-Chinchwad Link Road) via Bhatnagar, Mumbai-Pune Highway, Khadki, Wakadewadi, Shanivarwada, and through Laxmi Road reaching Eknath Mangal Karyalaya for a halt.

On Monday (25th) at 4:30 am, the palanquin will depart from the office. From there it will halt at Bhavanipeth, Ramoshi Gate, Bhairoba Nala, Divya Vatika Ashram, Dive Ghat, and Saswad Bazar at Karhabai Mandir for the second halt.

On Wednesday (26th) morning, the palanquin will depart from the temple towards Shivri and Raskar Mal. Passing through Shri Kshetra Jejuri, Mavadi, and Dhole Mala, the palanquin will reach Morgaon at 9 pm.

After that, on Thursday (27th August) and Friday (28th August), the palanquin will stay at Morgaon itself. From 29th August, the return journey of the palanquin will begin. Halting at Shri Kshetra Jejuri, Shri Kanhabai Mandir, and Divya Vatika Ashram-Wadki, the palanquin will return to the temple at Chinchwad on 2nd September.
