Pimpri | Due to pre-monsoon and seasonal rains, the Hinjewadi area has faced a near emergency-level waterlogging situation over the past month. This crisis caused severe inconvenience to local residents and IT professionals. Employees working in the IT park were stuck on roads for hours. Repeated traffic jams and lack of basic civic amenities pushed frustrated citizens to launch a signature campaign under the banner #UNCLOGHinjawadiITPark. Taking note of this, BJP MLA Mahesh Landge directly appealed to the Chief Minister to intervene. Following this, swift action was initiated, and the Principal Secretary has called for an urgent meeting.

The meeting, scheduled for Monday (30th), will address infrastructure issues in Hinjewadi and the proposal to include Hinjewadi in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). It will be chaired by the Principal Secretary to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and all related departments have been summoned.

Recently, waterlogging in the Hinjewadi area caused severe disruptions and inconvenience. The meeting will also aim to identify who is truly responsible for this mismanagement. The review meeting will be held on Monday at 5 PM at the Mumbai Mantralaya (state headquarters).

Departments invited to the meeting include:

  • Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC)

  • Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC)

  • Pune Zilla Parishad

  • Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL)

  • Tata Metro

  • Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB)

Representatives of the Wakad-Pimpri Chinchwad Resident Development and Welfare Association recently met MLA Mahesh Landge, urging him to raise the demand for including Hinjewadi under PCMC limits and improve basic civic amenities and education infrastructure by seeking the Chief Minister’s attention.

“We are working under the guidance of Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis to strengthen the basic infrastructure facilities in areas under the PMRDA (Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority) near Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. My consistent focus is on resolving traffic issues, stormwater drainage systems, waste management, public health, and environmental conservation. From that perspective, this upcoming meeting is extremely crucial.”
