Maharashtra State Municipal Corporation–Municipal Council Workers–Employees Union Federation Office Bearers’ State-Level Convention Held in Pimpri

Pimpri Chinchwad | A state-level convention of labour representatives from municipal corporations across Maharashtra was organised on Sunday, August 10, at 11:00 am at the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Employees Federation office.

This state-wide convention was attended by labour leaders from the municipal corporations of Brihanmumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Thane, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Nashik, Kalyan-Dombivli, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Navi Mumbai, Solapur, Mira-Bhayander, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Amravati, Nanded-Waghala, Kolhapur, Panvel, Ulhasnagar, Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad, Malegaon, Jalgaon, Latur, Dhule, Ahilyanagar, Parbhani, Ichalkaranji, and others.

In this state-level convention, it was unanimously decided that a state-wide meeting of all municipal corporation workers and employees of Maharashtra be organised on August 24, 2025, at Late Shankar (Anna) Gawade Memorial Workers Hall, Thergaon, to resolve various demands and issues of the employees that are still pending before the government.

Detailed discussions were held on the problems of workers from various municipal corporations, mainly including: non-payment of monthly salaries for the last 3 to 4 months, implementation of the Old Pension Scheme, rising contractualisation, making contractual workers permanent in municipal service, fixing the patient-to-staff ratio in hospitals as per the Nursing Council and Salim Merchant Award norms, and providing quality medical services to all municipal corporation employees in the state.

Regarding all these demands, it was stated that in the August 24, 2025 meeting, the issues will be resolved, pending demands will be approved by the state government, and the future course of agitation will be decided accordingly, as informed by Maharashtra State Municipal Corporation–Municipal Council Workers–Employees Union Federation President Shashikant alias Babanrao Zinjurde.

Labour leaders present included Shashikant alias Babanrao Zinjurde (Pimpri-Chinchwad), Shashank Rao, Ramakant Bane, Ashok Jadhav, Vaman Kaviskar (Brihanmumbai), Mohan Tiwari, Chetan Ambonkar, Virpal Bhal (Thane), Uday Bhat, Madhukar Rakesh Vitkar (Pune), Jagdish Deshmukh (Nashik), Adv. Swapnil Kashid (Navi Mumbai), Ganesh Shinge (Nanded), Gautam Kharat (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), Keshav Andhale (Parbhani), Dilip Shinde (Sangli), Pralhad Kotwal (Amravati), Vikas Lagare (Ichalkaranji), Dinkar Awale, Ajit Tivale (Kolhapur), Satish Chandalya, Anil Kamble (Panvel), Deepak Rao (Bhiwandi), Bapusaheb Sadafule (Solapur), Ankush Gaikwad (Latur), Pravin Tantarapale (Nagpur), Ramesh Jagtap (Malegaon) and other office bearers.

The introductory speech of the convention was delivered by Federation spokesperson Gautam Kharat. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mohan Tiwari.
