Green Signal for Setting up ‘IIM’ in Industrial City; GR Issued for 70 Acres Land at Moshi

Pimpri Chinchwad | The path has been cleared for the establishment of an IIM in the industrial city of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Out of 77 hectares 01 ares in Gat No. 327 (old Gat No. 325) at Mouje Moshi, Taluka Haveli, District Pune, 28.00 hectares of land has been allotted for the purpose of setting up the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur Training and Education Center. The government resolution (GR) was issued on September 3, 2025.
BJP MLA Mahesh Landge had envisioned an “Education Hub Pimpri-Chinchwad” in his ‘Vision-2020’. As part of this, he has been following up to start institutes like IIM and IIT in the city.
Director of IIM Nagpur, Bhimaraya Metri, said, “Pune is a major manufacturing and IT hub. In today’s changing world, it is necessary to provide executives with new skills and also to reskill them with updated knowledge. Instead of industries coming to us, we are going to them and fulfilling their needs.”
Currently, IIM Nagpur runs a weekend MBA program for professionals working in Pune, which will be shifted to the Moshi campus once it starts. The institute also has plans to expand in Goa, Hyderabad, and South Asian countries. The new Pune campus will have an incubation center, as well as specially designed part-time and weekend courses for industry professionals.
A flagship program in Data Science and Management will also be launched at the Pune campus — this will be the first such initiative by any IIM outside its main campus. “Moshi was chosen due to its proximity to industrial hubs like Chakan, Talegaon, Bhosari, Ranjangaon MIDC, and Hinjawadi IT Park. We considered seven to eight locations before finalizing this one,” said Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur.
Today is a very proud day for the educational sector of Pimpri-Chinchwad. The city is creating its identity not only as an industrial hub, workers’ city, and IT hub but now also as an Education Hub.
Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Santpeeth, Constitution Building and International Standard Library, Government Engineering College, Government Medical College and Research Center, and now IIM are being established here. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, our city is moving towards sustainable development.
