Mission to Make Indrayani and Pavana Rivers Clean, Scenic, and Pollution-Free Again; Review Meeting Held at PMRDA

Pimpri Chinchwad | Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has undertaken a project for pollution control of the Indrayani and Pavana rivers. In connection with this project, Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase, in the presence of MLA Mahesh Landge, held a review meeting and directed that the tender process be completed and concrete measures be implemented for pollution control. Through this project, the aim has been set to make the Indrayani and Pavana rivers clean, scenic, and pollution-free once again.
To prevent direct discharge of sewage into the riverbeds, the setting up of sewage treatment plants (STPs), proper management of contaminated water from drains flowing into the rivers, and treatment of industrial wastewater were discussed in the meeting.
In connection with the measures being undertaken to eliminate pollution in the Indrayani and Pavana rivers, Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase directed that the project be planned with a vision for the next 30 years.
Along with the construction of sewage treatment plants, action against unauthorized constructions on riverbanks, and strict measures against housing societies and companies releasing contaminated water into the rivers, were suggested by MLA Mahesh Landge during the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer Rinaz Pathan, Deputy Chief Planner Shweta Patil, Joint Commissioner of Land and Property Department Himmat Kharade, Joint Commissioner of Unauthorized Construction Removal Department Dr. Deepti Suryawanshi Patil, Superintendent Engineer Prashant Patil, Executive Engineer Anita Kulkarni, along with other concerned officers and staff.
