Pune:
In a major development in the highly controversial Mundhwa–Koregaon Park land scam, Pune Police have arrested Sheetal Tejwani, the main accused in the multi-crore land manipulation case. Tejwani had been under police radar for several weeks, with investigators suspecting that she had fled abroad to evade arrest. She had earlier been questioned multiple times.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Pune Police confirmed her arrest in connection with the illegal dealings of nearly 40 acres of government-owned Mahar Watan land in Mundhwa. Authorities allege that Tejwani obtained a “non-revocable Power of Attorney” from the original landowners and subsequently sold the land to Amedia Enterprises, a company linked to Parth Pawar, son of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

During this sale, massive stamp duty concessions were reportedly availed, resulting in crores of revenue loss to the state exchequer.

Tejwani and her husband Sagar Suryawanshi already have another criminal case registered against them for allegedly defrauding the Seva Vikas Co-operative Bank in Pimpri of over ₹60 crore using forged documents.

EOW Joint Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma confirmed that Tejwani had been absconding and was suspected to be overseas. Her earlier statements and related documents had already been examined before the arrest.

With her arrest, the investigation in this high-profile land scam is expected to gather significant momentum, and officials believe that more major revelations are likely in the coming days.
