Mumbai Metro 9 to Begin Operations by End of December
Transport Minister Pratap Sarnayak inspects the Dahisar–Kashimira route; first phase receives CMRS testing clearance.

Mumbai:
The Mumbai Metro Line 9, running from Dahisar to Kashimira, is set to begin operations by the end of December. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnayak conducted an inspection of the route on Thursday, accompanied by senior officials, including the Superintendent Engineer of MahaMetro, technical consultants, and contractor teams.
The Metro 9 project, which gained momentum in 2014, has now completed its first phase between Dahisar and Kashigaon. CMRS (Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety) trials are currently underway, and once the CMRS certificate is granted, the metro line will be ready for public use by December end.
This Metro Line 9 will be integrated with Metro Line 7, enabling seamless travel from Mira-Bhayandar to Gundavali without the need for interchange. After the launch of the first phase in December 2025, the second phase is expected to start by December next year, extending the metro corridor up to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Ground.
Additionally, work on the Vasai–Virar Metro Corridor will commence soon, providing connectivity from Vasai–Virar to Andheri, and onwards to the airport metro station, Minister Sarnayak announced.
