Pune | Education Desk:
In a major relief for lakhs of students across Maharashtra, the state government has decided to simplify the scholarship process by eliminating the need for repetitive document submissions. The Higher and Technical Education Department has announced that documents verified during the CET (Common Entrance Test) admission process will now be directly transferred to the MahaDBT scholarship portal, removing the need for students to resubmit them at the college level.

Every year, around 40–42 lakh students register with the Higher and Technical Education Department, and nearly 70% of them apply for various government scholarships. However, many students from EWS, SEBC, and backward categories have faced rejection due to missing or invalid documents. This new integration aims to end such document-related rejections permanently.

Under the new system, approximately 13–14 lakh students who register with the CET Cell for professional courses will upload all required documents during admission. Once verified by the CET authorities, these same documents will automatically be considered valid for both college admissions and scholarships.

To ensure smooth implementation, the MahaDBT portal will provide CET Cell with a list of any additional required documents, which will now be included in the CET registration process itself.

As a result, from the next academic year, students will no longer have to submit any papers separately to colleges for scholarship verification. The entire process will be digital, transparent, and hassle-free, saving time and effort for students and institutions alike.

Additionally, for renewal of scholarships in subsequent years, students will only need to upload their previous year’s marksheet and attendance certificate — making the renewal process much simpler than before.

According to officials, this decision is expected to bring consistency, transparency, and relief to lakhs of students who previously faced repeated verification hurdles.
