As IPL 2026 reaches its most intense phase, a shocking off-field controversy has sent tremors across the cricketing world. A sensational report has claimed that the girlfriend of a star IPL cricketer allegedly leaked confidential team information to outsiders, forcing the BCCI to take immediate and strict action.

In response to the controversy, the BCCI issued an extensive eight-page guideline document to all 10 IPL franchises on May 7. The newly introduced protocols impose tighter restrictions on player movement, hotel access, and private interactions involving players, support staff, and franchise officials.

One of the most significant rules now states that no guest — including family members, partners, or acquaintances — will be allowed inside team hotel rooms without prior written approval. The move has triggered massive discussions within cricket circles, with many questioning how deeply sensitive team information may have already been compromised.

According to media reports, the alleged breach came to light after a franchise discovered that confidential internal details were being shared with individuals outside the team environment on at least two occasions. The matter was reportedly escalated to the BCCI immediately after suspicion arose.

The Indian cricket board has now gone into full alert mode. Sources indicate that the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit has also received complaints regarding violations of operational protocols during the tournament. As a result, franchises have been instructed to closely monitor not only players but also individuals frequently interacting with them.

The newly issued guidelines reportedly contain specific warnings regarding potential “honey-trap” threats. Franchises have been advised to ensure that strategic discussions, dressing room conversations, playing XI decisions, and tactical plans do not reach external sources through friends, partners, or social connections.

With IPL being one of the world’s richest sporting leagues, risks related to betting syndicates, spot-fixing, and information leaks remain a constant concern. This time, however, the BCCI appears determined to eliminate even the slightest loophole before the situation escalates further.

The controversy has now become one of the biggest talking points of IPL 2026, and fans are eagerly waiting to see whether more shocking names or details emerge in the coming days.
