“Industries Pay Taxes – So Why Are They Deprived of Basic Amenities?”
– BJP MLA Mahesh Landge raises the issue in the Assembly – Minister of State Madhuri Misal directs a joint meeting of all concerned departments

Mumbai / Pimpri-Chinchwad | The Maharashtra State Government will soon hold a joint meeting with all relevant departments under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to address the basic infrastructure issues faced by industrial zones in Pimpri-Chinchwad. These include electricity, roads, drainage, sewage, and waste management. Minister of State Madhuri Misal assured the Assembly that a time-bound plan will be prepared to resolve these issues.
Industrial areas in Pimpri-Chinchwad are grappling with serious infrastructural challenges due to jurisdictional conflicts between MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) and the Municipal Corporation. During the monsoon session of the Assembly, BJP MLA Mahesh Landge brought this issue to the government’s attention, which was responded to positively by Minister Misal.
MLA Mahesh Landge said, “Pimpri-Chinchwad is known as ‘Mini India’ as people from across the country migrate here for employment in industries. The city hosts both national and international-level companies along with numerous small-scale industries. Through property tax from 3,470 industrial units, the Municipal Corporation receives approximately ₹320 crore in annual revenue. However, the civic body often refuses to provide basic facilities, claiming these areas fall outside their jurisdiction.”
He added, “MIDC’s layout lacks proper planning for drainage and sewage systems. Sewage treatment plants are yet to be made operational. The electricity supply situation is also severely inadequate. Industrialists recently held a meeting in Chakan to discuss the deteriorating road and utility conditions. Investment in Chakan is growing, and infrastructure needs to be upgraded accordingly. Therefore, a joint meeting of all stakeholders – the Municipal Corporation, PMRDA, MIDC, MSEDCL, and the Pollution Control Board – must be held to address these concerns.”
Minister Madhuri Misal informed the House that the industrial zones have been included under the AMRUT scheme for laying drainage lines. A joint meeting involving all concerned departments – the Municipal Corporation, PMRDA, MIDC – will be held soon to coordinate efforts on roads, electricity, drainage, sewage, and waste management. She assured that positive action will follow. “We will pursue efforts to clearly define responsibility and ensure funding for basic infrastructure in industrial belts.”
