IndiGo Cancels Over 180 Flights Across India — What’s Causing the Massive Disruption?
India’s largest airline faces severe staff shortages for the third consecutive day, leading to large-scale delays and cancellations at major airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru.

New Delhi:
Passengers across India are facing major travel disruptions as IndiGo — the country’s largest airline — has reportedly cancelled more than 180 scheduled flights nationwide. The cancellations and delays have continued for the third straight day, raising significant concerns among travellers.
According to reports shared by Reuters and the Indian Express, the primary reason behind the sudden operational crisis is an acute shortage of staff, including crew members and ground personnel. Sources indicate that the shortage has severely affected the airline’s ability to operate flights on schedule.
Major airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru are experiencing the highest disruption, with many passengers stranded or facing long delays. Social media platforms have seen a surge in complaints as frustrated passengers demand clarity and compensation.
An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed the situation and stated that efforts are underway to stabilize operations as quickly as possible. However, the spokesperson did not provide an exact timeline for when normal services will resume.
This large-scale disruption comes at a time when passenger air travel in India is witnessing a significant rise, especially due to holiday, business, and tourism travel demand.
