Hyderabad:
A major political and diplomatic controversy has begun after Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy proposed renaming a key road in Hyderabad after former US President Donald Trump. The decision has gained global attention as it comes just before the upcoming Telangana Rising Global Summit, an international business event.

According to officials, the road where the US Consulate General building is located will soon be renamed “Donald Trump Avenue.” This move is being described as the first of its kind globally, where a sitting or former US President is being honored this way outside America.

🌍 A Symbolic Gesture Toward Global Industry

Government sources explain that the renaming is not a political decision but a strategic one. It aims to honor international leaders and global companies that contributed to making Hyderabad a major technology and investment hub.

Under the new naming initiative, several major corporate brands will also be honored, including:

  • 📍 Google Street

  • 📍 Microsoft Road

  • 📍 Wipro Junction

Additionally, the upcoming Future City Project is set to be named after iconic Indian industrialist Ratan Tata, receiving the title “Ratan Tata Future City.” A nearby interchange has already been renamed Tata Interchange.

🎤 CM Revanth Reddy: “Two Clear Objectives”

Speaking about the decision, CM Reddy stated that renaming roads after influential personalities serves two purposes:

  1. To honor global achievers shaping the modern world

  2. To place Hyderabad on the global recognition map as an innovation-friendly smart city

🔥 BJP Slams the Move, Renaming Demand Raised

The move triggered strong political reaction. Union Minister and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar criticized the government, questioning the logic behind naming an Indian road after Donald Trump.

He also renewed BJP’s long-standing demand to rename Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar.

In his post on X, Kumar wrote:

“If the Congress government is so eager to rename places, they should start with meaningful and historic names. BJP is the only party raising real issues of the people through massive public movements.”

⚠️ Public Debate Continues

The announcement has created mixed reactions—while some see it as a strategic branding step for global investment, others call it unnecessary, politically motivated, and insensitive to local heritage.

With the global summit approaching, Hyderabad remains in the spotlight as discussions around identity, diplomacy, development, and branding intensify.
