DYPIU Students Showcase Creativity at Pimpri-Chinchwad Kala Mahotsav
Pimpri-Chinchwad : Students of the School of Applied Arts & Crafts (SoAAC), D. Y. Patil International University, Akurdi, actively participated in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Kala Mahotsav, held from 18 to 20 September 2026, showcasing their artistic talent, creativity, practical design skills, and entrepreneurial spirit through a variety of engaging stalls and activities.
A team of 20 DYPIU students participated each day of the three-day event and enthusiastically represented the University. The students demonstrated remarkable energy, teamwork, creativity, and commitment throughout the event, making their participation a memorable and enriching experience.
The DYPIU student stalls attracted visitors with a vibrant combination of art, creativity, entertainment, and community engagement. One of the key attractions was the Live Caricature Stall, where students created personalised caricatures for visitors while demonstrating their observation, illustration, and drawing skills.
The Rangoli Sticker Stall showcased colourful and creative rangoli designs, offering visitors artistic decorative options. Students also conducted a Tattoo-Making Stall, demonstrating precision, creativity, and visual design skills through temporary tattoo designs.
Adding a festive and innovative element, students presented Chocolate Modaks, combining creativity with food presentation and entrepreneurial thinking. The activity provided students with an opportunity to explore product development, presentation, visitor interaction, and creative entrepreneurship.
A Free Health Check-up Camp was also organised during the event in collaboration with Ojas Multispeciality Hospital. The hospital team extended valuable support by providing free basic health check-ups and health guidance to visitors. Special thanks and appreciation are extended to the entire Ojas Multispeciality Hospital team for their generous support and collaboration, which added a meaningful community-service dimension to the Kala Mahotsav and contributed to the overall success of the event.
Another major highlight was the display and sale of original artworks created by SoAAC students. The artworks reflected the students’ diverse creative abilities and understanding of visual composition, illustration, colour, and contemporary artistic practices. Visitors had the opportunity to appreciate and purchase student-created artworks, providing young artists with a platform to showcase their work to a wider audience.
The participation was coordinated by Mrs. Vijay Laxmi Pinjan, Event Coordinator, with the support and guidance of Mr. Rajesh Poojari, Ms. Pallavi Pandre, Mr. Shyam Pagare, Mr. Sharad Wadkar, and Mr. Sanket Bhalare. The event was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Rahul Weldode, HOD, School of Applied Arts & Crafts, and Mr. Jayprakash Kalwale, Director, School of Applied Arts & Crafts.
Special thanks are also extended to the Dr. Anurag Pandey (Admission Director) for their valuable support, coordination, and continuous assistance throughout the event. Their contribution played an important role in ensuring the smooth execution and successful participation of DYPIU at the Kala Mahotsav.
Participation in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Kala Mahotsav provided DYPIU students with valuable practical exposure beyond the classroom. From creating artworks and managing stalls to interacting with visitors and presenting and selling their creative products, students gained hands-on experience in communication, teamwork, presentation, customer interaction, creative problem-solving, and entrepreneurship.
The successful participation of the School of Applied Arts & Crafts, D. Y. Patil International University, Akurdi, highlighted the University’s commitment to experiential learning, creativity, community engagement, and industry-oriented education. The three-day event gave students an opportunity to transform their artistic knowledge and classroom learning into meaningful real-world experiences while representing DYPIU with enthusiasm and pride.
