Dharmendra Pradhan Resigns After Month-Long NEET Protests

In a major political development, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned from his post on July 25, following weeks of intense nationwide protests over the alleged NEET examination paper leak. The resignation is widely being viewed as a significant victory for the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and thousands of students who had been demanding his removal.

The month-long agitation, spearheaded by CJP, kept mounting pressure on the Central Government as protesters accused the Education Ministry of failing to ensure transparency and accountability in the country’s examination system. Demonstrators remained firm on a single demand—Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.

The movement received nationwide support from students, civil society groups and opposition parties. Renowned environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk had also joined the campaign with an indefinite hunger strike before ending it on July 23. However, CJP chief Abhijeet Dipke maintained that the protest would continue until the Education Minister stepped down.

As news of Pradhan’s resignation broke, celebrations erupted among protesting students and CJP workers across several parts of the country. The party described the development as “a victory for truth, justice and the collective struggle of thousands of students.”

Following the resignation, students have renewed their demand for a comprehensive investigation into the alleged NEET examination irregularities and strict legal action against everyone found responsible for the paper leak controversy.

In his resignation statement, Pradhan said his decision was taken to ensure that students’ futures were not affected by prolonged unrest and political confrontation.
