San Francisco / Global Tech Desk:
OpenAI has officially launched its ChatGPT 5.1 model, introducing a major leap in how conversational AI understands and responds to users. The new version is being gradually rolled out and will soon be available to all users — including those using the free “ChatGPT Go” plan.

The company describes GPT-5.1 as “more human, empathetic, and adaptive.” It can now detect not only the meaning of your questions but also the tone and emotional intent behind them.

⚙️ What’s New in This Update?

According to OpenAI, ChatGPT 5.1 features two distinct response modes:

  • Instant Mode: For quick, straightforward questions — delivers fast replies.

  • Thinking Mode: For complex or analytical questions — takes a few seconds longer to “think,” providing more thoughtful and detailed answers.

This dual-response system makes conversations feel more natural and intelligent — as if you’re talking to a real person who pauses to think before answering.

🧠 “Personality Styles” Feature

One of the most talked-about new features is Personality Styles.
Users can now choose how ChatGPT talks — whether Friendly, Professional, Direct, or Funny.

In total, there are 8 unique personality modes, letting you adjust the AI’s tone and communication style to match your mood or work context.

💬 Free Access for “Go” Users

In India, after ChatGPT Go became free on November 4, users were curious whether the new model would be available to them.
OpenAI confirmed that ChatGPT 5.1 will be available to Pro, Plus, Go, and Business users alike.

The rollout is being done gradually to manage server load.
Older GPT-5 versions will remain active for the next three months as “legacy models,” so users can compare the experience before switching fully to 5.1.
