Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani visited the world-renowned Tirumala Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, where he offered his hair to Lord Venkateswara as part of the temple’s centuries-old tradition. Alongside the religious offering, Reliance also donated 25 state-of-the-art electric buses worth ₹27.5 crore to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), marking one of the largest corporate contributions towards sustainable pilgrim transport.

Anant Ambani, known for his long hairstyle over the years, surprised devotees by undergoing the traditional head tonsure at the temple. The gesture, considered a symbol of humility, surrender and detachment from worldly attachments, is one of the most sacred rituals followed by devotees visiting Tirumala.
According to temple officials, Ambani participated in the sacred Suprabhatam Seva during the early hours of Sunday before offering prayers at the sanctum of Lord Venkateswara. After completing the rituals, he underwent the traditional Kesh Daan (hair offering) in accordance with temple customs.

Following the ceremony, Anant Ambani was seen dressed in a simple white dhoti and traditional South Indian attire, reflecting the spiritual significance of the occasion. His clean-shaven look has since gone viral across social media, drawing praise from devotees and netizens alike.
As part of the visit, Reliance Industries donated 25 electric buses valued at ₹27.5 crore to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams to promote eco-friendly transportation for pilgrims travelling on the Tirumala hills.
The company has also committed to bearing the salaries of 50 bus drivers, covering operational expenses and assisting in the installation of EV charging infrastructure within the temple premises, significantly strengthening the shrine’s green mobility initiative.
The donation is expected to improve the transportation experience for lakhs of pilgrims visiting Tirumala every year while supporting the temple administration’s efforts to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly travel.
