₹32,000 Crore Worth Development Projects Underway for Pune; CM Gives Top Priority to the City – Minister Chandrakant Patil

As many as 220 ambitious development projects are currently underway in the Pune Metropolitan Region, with the Maharashtra government approving a massive outlay of ₹32,523 crore, said Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil. He stated that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has given special priority to Pune to attract industries and provide world-class civic amenities to citizens.
Patil informed that investors from India and abroad are keen to establish industries in Pune, which will lead to large-scale employment generation. To address traffic congestion and enhance the quality of urban life, Chief Minister Fadnavis has directed the integrated development of the Pune Metropolitan Region.
A recent meeting of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister. During the meeting, instructions were given to expedite the preparation of a comprehensive and time-bound development plan for the region. The state government is also considering the involvement of the Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA) for preparing the Pune Metropolitan Development Plan.
The Chief Minister has further instructed authorities to fast-track the Man–Mhalunge township planning scheme, especially in areas like Hinjawadi, Baner, and Balewadi, which host major IT, banking, and financial multinational companies.
Patil pointed out that Pune’s Ring Road, proposed in 2007, was neglected for nearly two decades during the previous Congress–NCP regime. Due to the delay, Pune’s suburbs have faced issues such as traffic congestion, rising accidents, longer travel times, and pollution caused by heavy vehicles. He stated that CM Fadnavis has now accelerated the project, and work is progressing rapidly.
He added that Pune is among the fastest-growing cities in the state, and the Ring Road project alone has the potential to generate economic value worth ₹2.5 lakh crore. With the completion of the Purandar International Airport, Pune’s development pace is expected to double.
Concluding his remarks, Chandrakant Patil expressed confidence that if citizens give the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a clear mandate in the municipal elections, Pune will emerge as one of the fastest-growing cities in the country.
