950 Citizens Relocated to Safer Places from Flood-Affected Areas in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pimpri-Chinchwad | Continuous heavy rainfall is ongoing in the Pimpri-Chinchwad city area as well as in the catchment areas of dams. Due to the water release from dams into the rivers flowing through the city, river water levels are rising. The Disaster Management Department has been addressing complaints of drainage choke-ups and waterlogging across roads by sending teams through the respective regional offices for immediate resolution.
Rapid Response Mechanism Deployed
Due to the rainfall in the city and dam areas, water discharge from Mulshi and Pavana dams has caused flood-like conditions. Commissioner Shekhar Singh is continuously reviewing updates. Preventive measures have been taken at settlements, societies, and areas near Pavana, Indrayani, and Mula rivers, with response teams deployed.
Relief centers have been set up at 8 regional offices, with search and rescue teams available under Assistant Commissioners. Nearby relief centers have also been arranged with facilities for drinking water, electricity, and healthcare. Citizens are being regularly informed about rainfall, flood situations, and dam discharges through various mediums.
24-Hour Control Room in Operation
To ensure citizens can contact authorities immediately during emergencies caused by heavy rainfall, a Disaster Management Control Room has been made operational 24×7. This control room maintains coordination with C-DAC and the Meteorological Department for regular weather updates, as well as with Traffic Police for management. Hourly updates on water discharge are taken in coordination with the Irrigation Department.
The control room has deployed officers and staff from the Disaster Management Department, Police Wireless System, Fire Department, Civil Engineering Department, and Drainage Department.
