District Collector Kishan Jawale has issued an official notification stating that the restriction will remain in force until further orders to ensure public safety while strengthening work on the bridge is completed.
Bridge Under Structural Reinforcement
The Salav Bridge, located under the jurisdiction of Revdanda Police Station, has been identified as structurally sensitive. The Public Works Department (PWD) is currently carrying out reinforcement work, which has now reached its final phase.
To prevent additional stress on the structure and avoid any untoward incidents, the administration has prohibited the movement of heavy vehicles exceeding 20 tonnes across the bridge.
Earlier, vehicles above 12 tonnes were restricted. However, considering the ongoing repair work and structural condition, the permissible weight limit has now been revised to 20 tonnes.
Traffic Guidelines on the Bridge
Authorities have also issued the following safety instructions for vehicles permitted to use the bridge:
-
Maximum speed limit: 30 km/h
-
Minimum distance of 20 metres between two vehicles
-
Ensure that no traffic congestion occurs on the bridge
