Rajapur Floodwaters Recede, Normal Life Returns
Normalcy has returned to Rajapur after floodwaters caused by the overflowing Arjuna and Kodavali rivers receded following a break in heavy rainfall. Water levels dropped rapidly on Monday, allowing submerged roads, marketplaces, and residential areas to reopen as civic authorities intensified clean-up operations.

The season’s first major flood had disrupted daily life after continuous heavy rainfall over the past two days pushed both rivers above the danger mark. Floodwaters entered low-lying parts of the town, including the busy Jawahar Chowk area, forcing businesses to shut and severely affecting transportation.
With rainfall easing since Monday morning, floodwaters quickly receded from the affected areas. Rajapur Municipality immediately launched a large-scale clean-up drive to remove mud and debris accumulated on major roads, markets, and riverside locations, providing much-needed relief to residents.
Traffic has now resumed on several key routes, including the Shil–Gothane–Donivade–Chikhalgaon Road, Dongar Miraswadi–Ganeshwadi Road, Unhale–Railway Station Road, and the Rajwadi–Vadapeth Bridge, all of which had remained submerged during the flooding.
The flood also impacted agriculture after water entered paddy fields along the riverbanks, temporarily halting farming activities. As water levels declined, farmers returned to their fields and resumed paddy transplantation work.
Meanwhile, strong winds accompanying the heavy rainfall caused property damage in several villages. The house of Dhirendra Tambe at Sasale suffered damage, while roof tiles were blown off the residence of Shakuntala Gore. In Solgaon’s Gango Guravwadi, a fallen tree damaged three electricity poles, leading to a temporary power outage.
Despite the widespread disruption, officials confirmed that no casualties were reported, bringing relief to both residents and the administration.
