Washington/New Delhi : A shocking security move during US President Donald Trump’s recent China visit has triggered global attention. Reports claim that expensive gifts, electronic gadgets and special phones provided by Chinese officials were thrown into the trash by the American delegation before boarding the presidential aircraft, Air Force One.

According to international media reports, the US security team collected every item received during the visit while preparing for departure from China. The discarded material reportedly included special “burner phones” issued for White House staff, delegation pins, identification cards and several electronic accessories.

The drastic action was reportedly taken due to fears of data theft, cyber tracking and possible Chinese surveillance operations. Instead of carrying the items back to America, security officials allegedly destroyed or dumped them before takeoff.

Journalist Emily Goodin from the New York Post, who was travelling with the media delegation, revealed the development on social media platform X. In her post, she stated, “We are not allowed to bring anything connected to China onto the plane. We will soon depart for the United States.”

However, neither the White House nor the US administration has officially commented on the reports so far.

Security experts believe the move was not sudden but part of America’s high-level intelligence and counter-surveillance protocol. During visits to countries considered high-risk for espionage, US officials are often instructed to avoid carrying electronic devices or sensitive items back home to prevent hacking, tracking or intelligence breaches.

Notably, this was Trump’s first China visit after nearly nine years. During the tour, he held his seventh face-to-face meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The final round of discussions reportedly took place at Zhongnanhai Leadership Compound before the strict security measures were implemented.

The incident has once again intensified global debate over cyber warfare, diplomatic trust and growing tensions between the United States and China.
