Pimpri-Chinchwad : In a major initiative aimed at empowering youth with employment opportunities, a divisional employment fair organized under the guidance of Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap was held on Thursday at New Millennium English School in New Sangvi. The “Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Divisional Employment Fair” witnessed registration from 15,478 young job seekers, with direct interviews conducted by representatives from 120 companies. More than 7,000 candidates are expected to secure employment opportunities through the fair.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Shankar Jagtap emphasized the growing importance of skill development in today’s competitive world. “In the changing times, possessing only a degree is no longer sufficient. Skill development has become essential. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis envision an self dependant and developed India, and this dream can only be achieved through the strength and skills of our youth,” he said.

The employment fair was jointly organized by the Department of Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Pratibha Mahila Pratishthan, and Chandrarang Charitable Trust.

The event was inaugurated in the presence of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi, Deputy Commissioner of Skill Development and Employment Anupama Pawar, Assistant Commissioner of the District Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Guidance Centre S. R. Varade, PCMC Party Leader Prashant Shitole, and Standing Committee Chairman Abhishek Barne. Local office-bearers and representatives from various companies were also present.

Speaking further, MLA Jagtap said Pune is rapidly emerging as a Global Capability Centre (GCC) hub. “The Central Government is expected to provide Rs 6,000 crore for Pune’s growth hub because of the immense employment opportunities here. The recently launched ‘Missing Link’ project under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has not only reduced travel time between Pune and Mumbai but has also become an ‘Opportunity Link’ for Pune’s development,” he stated.

He further highlighted Maharashtra’s economic contribution, saying, “Maharashtra contributes 15 percent to India’s GDP, with MSMEs and startups playing a major role. Whenever the state leadership participates in international investment summits such as Davos, Maharashtra alone attracts 37 percent of the country’s total foreign investment. After Mumbai, Pune receives the highest investment inflow, and employment fairs like these help industries access skilled manpower.”

MLA Jagtap also noted that such employment fairs have been organized continuously for the past 11 years with the objective of ensuring job opportunities reach the last person in society under the spirit of ‘Antyodaya’. He added that Maharashtra is working toward becoming a 5-trillion-dollar economy and that the state economy has currently reached 66 billion dollars.

Deputy Commissioner Anupama Pawar described the employment fair as the “first step toward success” for young candidates. “Today’s youth often seek instant success. However, they must first prove themselves within an organization before aiming higher. Attempting to fly before strengthening one’s foundation increases the chances of failure,” she remarked. She added that both the Central and State Governments are committed to ensuring students receive employment opportunities while pursuing education.

Pawar also fondly remembered late MLA Laxman Jagtap for his dedication toward youth employment. “Despite battling serious illness, he participated online in the previous employment fair. His concern and commitment toward the youth were immense,” she said emotionally.

Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi said the fair would bring meaningful change to the lives of many candidates and their families. “Getting a job for a family member is a moment of great happiness. Candidates must make the most of the education their parents have worked hard to provide,” he said.

Sharing his own journey, he added, “I come from a small village. Youth living in an industrial and educational hub like Pune are fortunate because they have access to education, employment, and industries at one place. Industries today require skilled manpower. Getting a job is important, but sustaining it and proving one’s capability is even more crucial.”

During the event, a special message from Maharashtra Minister for Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Adv. Mangal Prabhat Lodha was also read out. Manojkumar Markad and Bharat Madane played key roles in organizing the event. All participating candidates were honored with special participation certificates. The event was compered by Akshay More, while Assistant Commissioner S. R. Varade delivered the vote of thanks.
