Traffic Jam Again on Mumbai–Pune Expressway, Commuters Upset
Vehicles crawl through Bor Ghat; long queues at Amrutanjan Bridge and Khalapur Toll Plaza

Mumbai–Pune Expressway | witnessed severe traffic congestion once again, causing major inconvenience to commuters. Heavy traffic snarls were reported in the Bor Ghat section, where several vehicles reportedly broke down, forcing traffic to move at a snail’s pace. Motorists have complained that stalled vehicles are not being removed promptly, leading to prolonged delays in clearing the congestion.
Long queues of vehicles were also seen at the Amrutanjan Bridge and near the Khalapur Toll Plaza, with traffic moving very slowly. Similar conditions were reported from the Khopoli stretch, further adding to commuters’ frustration. Due to the sluggish traffic flow, passengers and vehicle owners faced significant mental stress and delays.
It may be recalled that on Tuesday evening, a gas tanker overturned near the Adoshi Tunnel, resulting in massive traffic congestion on this crucial highway connecting Mumbai and Pune for over 32 hours. Following this incident, serious questions have been raised regarding emergency management, quick-response mechanisms, and essential facilities on the expressway.
Citizens are now demanding that the government and concerned authorities implement immediate and concrete measures to prevent such incidents in the future and strengthen emergency and essential services on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway.
