Rahul Gandhi Asked Questions, He Will Not Apologize: Vijay Wadettiwar

Vijay Wadettiwar | Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has leveled serious allegations against the Election Commission, claiming that vote-rigging took place in the elections of Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Haryana. At a press conference, he also presented some evidence in this regard. Following these allegations, the Election Commission responded by directing Rahul Gandhi to present detailed information and evidence of the voters whose names were either wrongly deleted or added. The Commission also made it clear that if concrete evidence is not provided, Rahul Gandhi will have to apologize for his accusations.

Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar said, “Vote-rigging is happening in the country. The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, presented evidence on this matter, to which the Election Commission responded by holding a press conference. But their stance appeared political. The Commission did not answer the questions raised by Rahul Gandhi. After elections in Maharashtra, CCTV footage was demanded, several letters were written, but the Commission never responded. Instead, they are asking Rahul Gandhi for evidence – this is astonishing. The question now arises whether the Election Commission remains independent. Rahul Gandhi has asked questions; he will not apologize,” Wadettiwar made it clear.

Heavy Rainfall Damage in Marathwada and Western Vidarbha

Heavy rains have caused severe damage in Marathwada and Western Vidarbha. In Chandrapur district, the Wardha and Painganga rivers have flooded, leading to water entering farmlands. Farmers have been devastated as crops ready for harvest have been destroyed. Hence, Wadettiwar has demanded that the government immediately order panchanamas (on-the-spot assessments).

Crops like jowar (sorghum), cotton, and soybean have been damaged, along with livestock losses. Districts such as Akola, Yavatmal, Washim, and Buldhana have also been severely affected by the rains. Wadettiwar said that thousands of acres of crops have been destroyed, bringing tears to the eyes of farmers. He further stated that compensation for last year’s excessive rainfall has still not been given, and now once again farmers have lost their crops. “On one hand, the government is taking loans; now, if needed, it should take more loans but provide immediate assistance to farmers,” Wadettiwar demanded.
