Mayor Inspects Traffic Congestion and Dust Issues in Punawale!
Daily Ordeal for Society Residents and Citizens: Demand for Concrete Measures from the Administration
Pimpri-Chinchwad | Taking cognizance of the traffic congestion occurring at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk in Punawale—located on the Pune–Bengaluru National Highway—as well as the escalating dust problem in the surrounding area, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Mayor Ravi Landge conducted an on-the-spot inspection. During this visit, detailed information was sought from relevant officials regarding the increasing volume of vehicles at the junction, the underlying causes of the traffic congestion, and the prevailing dust conditions in the locality.

Over the past few years, the Punawale area has witnessed rapid urbanization, resulting in a massive volume of traffic passing through this junction, which serves as a vital link to the Pune–Bengaluru National Highway. Consequently, the inspection revealed that severe traffic congestion frequently occurs at this location during the morning and evening peak hours. Furthermore, officials were apprised that citizens are facing significant inconvenience due to various ongoing construction works in the vicinity of the junction, the heavy vehicular movement, and the dust accumulating on the roads.

Against this backdrop—and keeping in mind the distress caused to citizens—Mayor Ravi Landge issued directives to the concerned officials to immediately implement necessary measures. These measures include regular water sprinkling to control dust levels at the junction, maintaining road cleanliness, and ensuring smooth traffic management. Additionally, he emphasized the need to formulate a comprehensive plan to alleviate traffic congestion at the junction, involving the proper synchronization of traffic signals, effective traffic guidance, and the utilization of alternative routes.

Joint Meeting to Devise Solutions..
Furthermore, Mayor Landge stated that in order to find a permanent resolution to this issue, a joint meeting would soon be convened between the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and the National Highway Authority to finalize appropriate remedial measures. Present during this inspection were Corporator Reshma Bhujbal, Corporator Kunal Vavhalkar, Municipal Corporation Joint City Engineer Sunil Bhagwani, Executive Engineers Sohan Nikam and Yogesh Alhat, Assistant Health Officers Shriram Gaikwad and Shantaram Mane, as well as Namdevrao Jadhav, Chetan Bhujbal, Gajanan Suryavanshi, Ganesh Payal, and others. It was also clarified on this occasion that the municipal administration is committed to understanding the issues plaguing the citizens and implementing immediate remedial measures to address them.
