LPG Booking Rules Changed in India Amid Iran-Israel-US War
Waiting period for booking the next LPG cylinder increased from 15 to 21 days as global tensions impact fuel supply.

The impact of rising geopolitical tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States is now being felt even in Indian households. Due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, global fuel markets have become unstable, leading to a rise in energy prices. In India, the price of domestic LPG cylinders has already increased by around ₹50 to ₹60 in recent weeks.
Along with the price rise, authorities have also introduced new rules regarding LPG cylinder refilling. The changes have been made considering the current global situation and the possibility of supply disruptions.
Earlier, customers had to wait 15 days after booking one LPG cylinder before they could book the next refill. However, under the newly introduced rules, the waiting period has now been increased to 21 days. This means customers will be able to place the next booking only three weeks after their previous booking.
Oil companies have already begun updating their software systems to implement the revised rule. Despite the change in the waiting period, the LPG booking process itself remains unchanged and customers can continue booking cylinders through the usual methods such as mobile apps, online platforms or gas agencies.
Limit of 15 Cylinders Per Year
According to the guidelines set by oil companies, each domestic LPG consumer is entitled to 12 subsidized cylinders per year. In addition, customers can also purchase 3 non-subsidized cylinders, making the total limit 15 cylinders per year for a single gas connection. This limit applies for the period between April 1 and March 31 every year.
Mandatory Delivery Within 24 Hours
Oil companies have also instructed gas agencies to ensure that LPG cylinders are delivered within 24 hours of booking. This rule has helped improve service efficiency and has provided significant convenience to millions of LPG consumers across the country.
Cylinder Available Only After 21 Days
Under the new system, customers will be able to book the next cylinder only 21 days after receiving the previous one. Oil companies have already locked the new waiting period in their software systems to ensure the rule is followed.
Despite these changes, officials have clarified that there is no shortage of LPG cylinders in the country. Authorities have urged consumers not to panic and assured that cylinders will continue to be supplied as per demand.
To ensure uninterrupted supply, LPG refilling plants across India will now operate even on Sundays, helping maintain steady distribution and avoiding disruptions in household gas supply.
