Maharashtra Politics | Gondia | In a major political escalation, Congress leader Nana Patole has launched a sharp attack on the state government over the ongoing Fake Godman Kharat controversy, alleging direct links between the accused and the Devendra Fadnavis-led administration.

Speaking at a press conference in Gondia, Patole claimed that the “Fake Baba Kharat is effectively a man of the Fadnavis government,” accusing the ruling establishment of politicizing the entire case for strategic gains.

Patole, who was in Gondia for party organizational activities, raised multiple concerns during his media interaction. Drawing a parallel with controversies surrounding Narendra Modi’s government, he alleged that just like the so-called “Epstein Files” triggered questions internationally, a similar “Kharat File” is being created in Maharashtra. According to him, this alleged file could expose names of several ministers and MLAs from the ruling party.

He further questioned the pace and intent of the investigation, pointing out that despite the probe being underway for several days, no action has been taken against the accused’s wife. “Does the government have the right to make allegations against others without making arrests?” Patole asked, alleging misuse of power and pressure politics through selective targeting.

The Congress leader also expressed concern over the functioning of the police machinery, stating that delays in investigation are eroding public trust. He emphasized that the state’s law enforcement agencies are not acting with the urgency expected in such a sensitive case.

Meanwhile, the Fake Godman Kharat case has triggered social and religious unease across Maharashtra. Patole remarked that such incidents tarnish the image of Hindu traditions and send a misleading message within society.

Overall, the controversy has intensified political tensions in the state, with clear signs of a deepening confrontation between the ruling government and the opposition.
