Police Action Follows Three-Hour Search Operation; Case Registered Against Farmer

Hingoli: The Goregaon police conducted a raid and seized cannabis plants that had been concealed within an onion crop in the Gugulpimpri area of ​​Sengaon Taluka. Following an extensive search operation lasting three hours, police discovered 80 cannabis plants in a field; their estimated market value is believed to be between ₹85,000 and ₹90,000. A case has been registered against a farmer in connection with this incident.

The police have launched a special campaign across the district to crack down on illegal activities. Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Nilabh Rohan and Crime Branch Inspector Mohan Bhosale, teams comprising personnel from the Local Crime Branch and 13 police stations across the district have been mobilized. Operations are currently underway at various locations as part of this campaign.

Meanwhile, the Goregaon police received intelligence indicating that cannabis plants were being cultivated amidst an onion crop in a field located in the Gugulpimpri area of ​​Sengaon Taluka. Acting on this information, a team comprising Assistant Police Inspector Vinod Zhalke, Sub-Inspector Nitin Lengule, Jamadar Anil Bharati, and police constables Rahul Maindkar and Navale initiated a search operation on Monday afternoon.

After conducting a search in the Gugulpimpri vicinity for approximately three hours, the cannabis plants were discovered growing within the onion crop in a field owned by Vitthal Dhok (a resident of Maherkheda). Some of the plants had grown to a height of three to four feet, while others stood at about two feet. The police seized a total of 80 plants from the scene, weighing approximately 8.5 kilograms.

The police stated that the estimated market value of these seized plants is between ₹85,000 and ₹90,000. Based on a complaint filed by Sub-Inspector Nitin Lengule, a case has been registered against Vitthal Dhok at the Goregaon Police Station. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Kundankumar Waghmare, Assistant Police Inspector Zhalke, and Sub-Inspector Lengule are conducting further investigations into this case.
