BJP Sounds the Election Bugle!
Ravindra Chavan Becomes New Captain of 'Team BJP' – Entrusted with the Responsibility to Win Upcoming Elections

Mumbai | Ravindra Chavan has been unanimously elected as the President of the Maharashtra unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), giving “Team BJP” a new captain ahead of crucial elections. Chavan, who was already serving as the Working President of BJP Maharashtra, was considered the natural and widely accepted choice within the party. A special session was organized for this announcement, where speeches from senior leaders reflected the party’s readiness for elections. The leaders used the opportunity to heavily criticize the Thackeray brothers and their alleged double standards.
🤝 A Trusted Ally of Devendra Fadnavis
Ravindra Chavan is known to be a close confidant of Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and is also considered ideologically aligned with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He now becomes the 12th President of BJP Maharashtra, succeeding Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
🔥 Fadnavis and Bawankule Lash Out
While congratulating Chavan, both Fadnavis and outgoing president Bawankule delivered fiery speeches, criticizing the Thackeray brothers’ alliance and branding it hypocritical. Fadnavis warned that opposition parties will once again start pushing “fake narratives” ahead of the next elections, similar to their strategy during the Lok Sabha polls.
🧭 Backed by the RSS, Rooted in BJP Ideology
Chavan, described as someone who started as a humble party worker, has risen through the ranks with loyalty to the BJP and RSS ideology. From a municipal corporator in Dombivli, he became the Chairman of the Standing Committee, then a four-time MLA, a minister, and now the state party president—a remarkable political journey.
🏛️ Local Body Elections on the Horizon
His appointment comes strategically ahead of local body elections across Maharashtra. At a grand event in Worli, the announcement was made in the presence of Central Minister Kiren Rijiju, who acted as the observer, along with several key BJP leaders.
🔁 BJP’s 12th State President
While Chavan becomes the 12th person to hold this role, Mumbai BJP President Ashish Shelar quipped that “he’ll be the 13th for the opposition,” implying he will prove politically disastrous for their rivals. The remark drew a huge round of applause.
🛣️ Proven Track Record as Minister
When Eknath Shinde became Chief Minister, Chavan served as Public Works Minister, delivering commendable work. He had also served as BJP’s Working President after the Mahayuti alliance took power. Now, he steps into the role of full-fledged State President of BJP.
🗳️ Eyes on Electoral Success
Chavan stated,
“Winning maximum seats in the upcoming municipal, corporation, and local body elections and establishing BJP as the No.1 party is my key responsibility. I am a simple party worker. It’s only in the BJP that a worker can rise so high—this isn’t possible in other parties.”
