Corporator Kavita Bhongale Advocates for City Security during General Body Meeting!
- Mandatory Installation of Two CCTV Cameras for Shop Act Registration - Draws Attention of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Administration
Pimpri-Chinchwad | BJP Corporator Kavita Bhongale made a strong plea during the General Body Meeting of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, urging the civic body to mandate the installation of at least two CCTV cameras for all commercial establishments in the city during the process of Shop Act registration and license renewal. She firmly asserted that the effective utilization of technology is absolutely essential to ensure the safety and security of the city’s citizens, particularly women.

Currently, there are over 30,000 commercial establishments operating within the city limits. She demanded that the administration make it mandatory for all these establishments to install a minimum of two CCTV cameras—either at the time of their initial registration under the Shop Act or during the subsequent renewal of their licenses.
Speaking on this matter, Corporator Bhongale stated that it should be made mandatory to install one CCTV camera at the entrance of every shop and a second camera at the transaction counter or business area inside the shop. She argued that if CCTV cameras were installed across all establishments in the city, it would create a robust security network spanning the entire city through the collective coverage of thousands of cameras. This, she noted, would enable effective control over incidents such as theft, vehicle vandalism, and other criminal activities. Furthermore, she pointed out that in the event of any untoward incident, the availability of crucial CCTV footage would greatly assist police investigations, thereby accelerating the resolution of crimes.
Civil Security: A Top Priority…
Emphasizing that this decision would also prove pivotal for the safety of women, she underscored the fact that in a rapidly developing metropolis like Pimpri-Chinchwad, the security of its citizens must be accorded the highest priority. Meanwhile, Corporator Kavita Bhongale has strongly demanded in the House that the administration formulate an immediate policy in this regard, making it mandatory to install two CCTV cameras as a condition for both the issuance and renewal of Shop Act licenses.
“In a rapidly growing city like Pimpri-Chinchwad, the safety and security of citizens—and particularly of women—is a collective responsibility shared by us all. If CCTV cameras are installed in every commercial establishment across the city, it will not only enable us to keep a check on crime but also instill a sense of security among the citizens. It is our expectation that the administration will take an immediate decision to make the installation of two CCTV cameras mandatory during the Shop Act registration and renewal processes, thereby utilizing technology to make our city safer.”
