Pune | At Someshwar Temple in Pune’s Pashan, a massive fortress-like stone wall separates the noise of the outside world from the sacred realm of the gods. The moment devotees step in through the thick, carved wooden doors, they are welcomed by an atmosphere of peace and devotion.

This temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, holds special significance during the holy Hindu month of Shravan, when lakhs of devotees from across Pune and nearby regions flock to offer prayers. The sound of bells, the chanting of mantras, and the fragrance of flowers and incense fill the temple premises, creating a spiritual aura.

“On August 18, the last Monday of Shravan, we expect nearly 10,000 to 20,000 people,” says Popatrao Jadhav, chairman of the Shri Kshetra Someshwar Devasthan Trust. Mondays are considered especially auspicious for worshipping Lord Shiva, and hence, the temple witnesses a huge rush of devotees on these days.

The temple gates remain open from the early hours of dawn until late evening to accommodate the heavy footfall. Devotees line up patiently, many carrying milk, bilva leaves, and flowers to offer to Lord Someshwar. Volunteers and trust members assist in crowd management, ensuring smooth darshan for all.

Over the years, Someshwar Temple has not only remained a center of faith but also a place where tradition, culture, and community come together. Shravan Mondays continue to strengthen this spiritual bond, as thousands seek blessings, peace, and fulfillment in the serene presence of Lord Someshwar.
