Pimpri-Chinchwad | MLA Shankar Jagtap has submitted a written instruction to the Municipal Commissioner, requesting the provision of a dedicated plot for the construction of a Journalists’ Bhavan (Press Club) in the draft development plan of Pimpri-Chinchwad city. This decision is expected to provide journalists in the city with an independent, well-equipped, and rightful platform.

On behalf of the Marathi Journalists Association, MLA Shankar Jagtap was specially felicitated for raising journalists’ issues in the Legislative Assembly. On this occasion, a delegation led by the Association’s State President Kiran Joshi met MLA Jagtap and discussed various problems faced by journalists. The delegation expressed their gratitude to him for voicing these concerns in the Assembly.

“Journalists are the fourth pillar of democracy. I am fully aware of their issues and will always stand by them to protect their legitimate rights,” assured MLA Jagtap. He further stated, “Journalists must have faith in me, but if I make a mistake, they should fearlessly point it out.”

Through Attention Notice No. 2473 in the Legislative Assembly, MLA Jagtap demanded the establishment of the Acharya Balshastri Jambhekar Journalists’ Welfare Corporation. He strongly proposed that this body should provide various facilities for journalists, such as health insurance, accident insurance, pension benefits, housing facilities, training, and incentives.
