Legendary actor Dharmendra passed away on 24 November at the age of 89, leaving the film industry and millions of fans in grief.

Before entering films, Dharmendra married Prakash Kaur, with whom he has four children. In 1980, he married Hema Malini, and together they have two daughters—Esha and Ahana.

How Did Hema and Dharmendra First Meet?

In an old interview, Hema Malini shared the story of their first meeting:

“The first time I saw him… I had never seen such a handsome man before. I was impressed. But it didn’t mean I wanted to marry him. I was simply a fan. Later, he expressed his feelings… he loved me too. Eventually, I told him—‘I have to marry you. You can’t just walk away.’”

She admitted that marrying a married man was difficult, but said:

“I didn’t want wealth or anything else… only love. And he was always there for me.”
