The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a five-day weather alert for Maharashtra, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across several districts. The State Disaster Management Department has advised residents to closely monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

According to the latest forecast, Orange Alert has been issued for Raigad, Ratnagiri, the ghat areas of Satara, and the ghat regions of Pune on July 27, 2026, indicating the likelihood of intense weather activity.
A Yellow Alert has also been announced for Thane, Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban, Jalgaon, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Buldhana, Nanded, Hingoli, Latur, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli, the ghat areas of Kolhapur, and Sindhudurg, where thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds are expected.
On July 28, Yellow Alerts remain in effect for Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Raigad, Jalgaon, the ghat areas of Pune, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, the ghat regions of Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Amravati, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, and Gondia.
For July 29, the IMD has upgraded the warning to an Orange Alert for Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli, indicating a higher risk of severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. A Yellow Alert has also been issued for Nashik, the Nashik ghat region, Jalgaon, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Buldhana, Akola, Washim, Amravati, Yavatmal, Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, the ghat areas of Kolhapur and Satara, Ratnagiri, Raigad, the Pune ghat region, and Sindhudurg.
On July 30, Yellow Alerts have been issued for Raigad, the Pune and Satara ghat regions, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, the Kolhapur ghat region, Buldhana, Akola, Washim, Amravati, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, and Gadchiroli.
The IMD has urged people to avoid standing under trees during lightning, stay indoors whenever possible, and follow advisories issued by local authorities. Farmers have also been advised to take precautionary measures to protect themselves, livestock, and standing crops from adverse weather conditions.
