With Gill unavailable, senior batter KL Rahul will lead the Indian side in the three-day practice match. The fixture is considered crucial for Team India as it serves as the final preparation ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka.
The practice match is being played at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground in Colombo. After winning the toss, SLC XI elected to bat first. The match is scheduled to be played from August 7 to August 9.
