Savita Malpekar Praises Pravin Tarde’s Dedication: “He Works Like a Man Possessed”

Mumbai: Veteran Marathi actress Savita Malpekar has spoken candidly about her experience of working with filmmaker Pravin Tarde, describing him as an exceptionally dedicated director who immerses himself completely in his work.

Speaking in a recent interview with Rajshri Marathi, Malpekar reflected on collaborating with Tarde in the recently released film Deool Band 2.
Addressing Tarde’s reputation for being strict on film sets, she said that while people often talk about his blunt nature and the way he scolds actors during shoots, they should also understand the immense responsibility he carries as a writer and director.
According to Malpekar, every script is a writer’s dream, and Tarde works relentlessly to bring that vision to life. She added that he constantly thinks about the trust producers place in him by investing in his films, which explains his uncompromising approach during production.
She said that even if Tarde criticises an actor publicly during a shoot, he is equally generous with praise when a performance impresses him. “If he likes your scene, he hugs you with the same affection and openly appreciates your work. Very few people do that,” she said.
Malpekar also praised Tarde’s attention to detail, explaining that every dialogue and every word in his scripts carries meaning, and he expects actors to deliver them exactly as written.
Highlighting his commitment, she noted that films such as Deool Band 2, Mulshi Pattern, and Phulwanti have been successful because of his relentless hard work. She described him as someone who becomes so absorbed in filmmaking that he often forgets to eat or take breaks while working on a project.
She further said that Tarde never wastes time chatting on set and remains focused entirely on the film, making every shoot a valuable learning experience for actors.
Beyond his professional qualities, Malpekar also praised Pravin Tarde and his wife Snehal Tarde as wonderful human beings, saying she has no words to describe their kindness and hopes the couple continues to receive love and blessings.
