St. Petersburg: Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered India a partnership to jointly develop and manufacture the advanced fifth-generation Sukhoi Su-57 stealth fighter aircraft. Russia has also expressed its willingness to share critical defense technologies with India as part of the proposed collaboration.

Speaking to international media during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Putin said Russia remains open to working closely with India on the Su-57 program. He noted that India had previously been invited to participate in the project, but at that time chose to allow Russia to proceed independently while keeping future participation under consideration.

Putin stated that the Su-57 could have been a joint project from the beginning and emphasized that Russia would have no difficulty supplying the aircraft to India or involving New Delhi in its future development and production. He added that Moscow is prepared to deepen cooperation in advanced military aviation technologies with its long-standing strategic partner.

The Su-57 is considered one of the world’s most advanced fifth-generation fighter aircraft, alongside the American Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II and China’s Shenyang J-35. The aircraft is known for its stealth capabilities, exceptional maneuverability, modern avionics, and multi-role combat performance. It is capable of conducting precision strikes against air, land, and maritime targets.

Addressing questions about India-Pakistan relations, Putin acknowledged the complexity of issues between the two nations but refrained from commenting in detail. He described Pakistan as an independent and significant country with diverse international relationships, adding that it would be inaccurate to suggest that Islamabad operates entirely under China’s influence.

Putin also dismissed suggestions that India’s growing ties with the United States could create tensions in India-Russia relations. He described India as a trusted and reliable partner and said Russia welcomes New Delhi’s efforts to strengthen relations with countries around the world.

Responding to a question about U.S.-India relations, Putin remarked that attempts by any country to pressure India would be unsuccessful. He praised India’s growing global influence and expressed confidence that bilateral trade between Russia and India would soon surpass the $100 billion mark.

On India-China relations, Putin reiterated that Russia would not interfere in matters between the two Asian powers. He expressed confidence that border and other issues between India and China could be resolved through dialogue and peaceful engagement. He further noted that Russia maintains strong and independent relationships with both nations.
