Prashant Kishor on Bihar Assembly Election: “I Will Not Contest”

Former election strategist and Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor has announced that he will not contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. In an exclusive interview with PTI, Kishor said the decision was taken in the larger interest of the party.

“The Jan Suraaj Party has decided that I should not contest the election. Therefore, another candidate has been announced from Raghopur, the constituency of Tejashwi Yadav,” he stated. Kishor added that contesting would have diverted his attention from crucial organizational work, which is essential for the party’s growth.

On Jan Suraaj Party’s Prospects

When asked about the party’s expected performance, Prashant Kishor made a bold prediction:

“Jan Suraaj Party will either achieve a massive victory or face a major defeat. I expect us to win either fewer than 10 seats or more than 150 — nothing in between.”

This statement reflects Kishor’s belief that the upcoming election will be decisive for his newly formed political outfit.

Prediction About Nitish Kumar and BJP Alliance

Speaking about the JD(U)-BJP alliance, Kishor predicted that the coalition is heading towards a setback.
He said, “The NDA is likely to lose power as the JD(U)-BJP alliance is struggling even to finalize its candidates. Nitish Kumar will not return as Chief Minister.”

Kishor pointed out that the situation for JD(U) has worsened since the last Assembly election, when the party’s seat count fell to 43 due to Chirag Paswan’s rebellion.
