Pankaj Dheer Passes Away: Mahabharat’s ‘Karna’ Bids Final Goodbye at 68 After Battle with Cancer

Mumbai: Veteran actor Pankaj Dheer has passed away at the age of 68. The actor, who had been battling cancer for quite some time, breathed his last after his condition worsened recently. His close friend and fellow actor Amit Behl confirmed the news to the media and fans.

According to reports, Pankaj Dheer’s cancer had relapsed after initial treatment, and he had also undergone a major surgery in recent months. Despite his treatment, his health had been deteriorating steadily.

The Cine & TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) also shared a condolence post on social media, stating, “We are deeply saddened to inform about the demise of our former secretary, Mr. Pankaj Dheer. His funeral will be held today.”

Actor Feroz Khan, who played Arjun in Mahabharat, also paid an emotional tribute to his late co-star and close friend. “I’ve lost a dear friend today. Pankaj was not just a great actor but a wonderful human being. I’m still in shock,” he said.

Pankaj Dheer was a renowned face on Indian television and in films. His portrayal of Karna in B.R. Chopra’s Mahabharat remains one of the most memorable performances in Indian television history. He also appeared in several popular shows like Chandrakanta and The Great Maratha, as well as notable films such as Baadshah, Sadak, and Soldier.

He is survived by his wife Anita Dheer and son Nikitin Dheer, both of whom are also associated with the entertainment industry. Nikitin is known for his roles in Chennai Express (as Thangabali) and for portraying Ravana in the TV series Shrimad Ramayan.
