Maharashtra Cabinet Clears 4 Key Decisions
Big Push For Infrastructure, Employee Relief And Religious Trust Land Approval In Major Maharashtra Cabinet Meeting
Mumbai | In a crucial cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, the Maharashtra government approved a series of significant decisions ranging from railway station renaming and government employee transfer extensions to land allocation for a temple trust and major relief for the Nagpur outer ring road project.
One of the biggest highlights of the meeting was the approval to rename Sawantwadi Railway Station as “Lokmanya Madhu Dandavate Railway Terminus.” The proposal will now be sent to the Central Government for final approval. Senior socialist leader late Madhu Dandavate is widely recognised as one of the key architects of the Konkan Railway project. The long-pending demand from Konkan residents has finally received state-level approval, marking a major symbolic tribute to Dandavate’s contribution.

The cabinet also approved an amendment to the Maharashtra Government Employees Transfer Regulation and Delay Prevention in Official Duties Act, 2005, giving an extension to the 2026 general transfer process of government employees. The move is expected to provide major administrative relief to thousands of employees currently involved in the transfer cycle.
In another important decision, the state government approved the allocation of 4 acres and 25 gunthas of land to the Pimpaleshwar Devsthan Temple Trust located at Sagav-Sonarpada in Kalyan taluka of Thane district. The land, already under the trust’s use, will now be regularised and transferred at a nominal rate. Officials believe the decision will accelerate development activities around the temple premises.
The cabinet further waived stamp duty and registration charges for direct land purchases required for the New Nagpur and Outer Ring Road development project. Private land located in Godhani and Ladgaon (Rithi) of Hingna taluka will be acquired through direct negotiations. The decision is expected to speed up land acquisition and strengthen infrastructure expansion in the Nagpur region.
With these approvals, the Maharashtra government has attempted to address infrastructure development, administrative functioning and long-standing regional demands through one of its most impactful cabinet meetings in recent months.
