BJP MLA Shivajirao Kardile Passes Away

Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Rahuri, Shivajirao Kardile, passed away early Thursday morning following a brief illness. He was 66. Kardile, who also served as the Chairman of the Ahmednagar District Cooperative Bank, reportedly suffered a heart attack at dawn. He was rushed to a private hospital in Ahmednagar, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

“The news of Shivajirao Kardile’s death is extremely saddening. His sudden demise is a great loss to his family and the Rahuri constituency. His people-centric work as MLA, Minister of State, and Chairman of the Ahmednagar District Bank will always be remembered. May his family find the strength to bear this loss. Heartfelt condolences.”

Political Journey of Shivajirao Kardile

Shivajirao Kardile had a long and impactful political career in Maharashtra.

• He was first elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Rahuri in 2009 and again in 2014 as a BJP candidate.

• Although he lost in 2019 to NCP’s Prajakta Tanpure, he made a strong comeback in the 2024 Assembly elections, defeating Tanpure by a margin of 34,000 votes.

• Kardile secured 1,35,859 votes, while Tanpure received 1,01,372 votes.

A native of Burhanagar in Ahmednagar district, Kardile began his political journey at the grassroots level before rising to become a respected figure in state politics.
